The kids...  Today didn’t quite turn out as planned, but we still enjoyed spending the day as a family. Kasey and Carl drove the truck and I had Alanna, Peyton and Preston in the car. We stopped at Wal-mart, stocked up on ice, drinks, snacks, chips and Subway and then drove over to Top Sail Beach. We...  After eating at Doumar’s BBQ we headed to Kill Devil Hills. Next trip we will plan in advance … there was ONE hotel with an available room {after all it was Memorial Weekend and we were spending it at the beach}. It wasn’t what we were used to, but the positive side of it was...  We drove to Norfolk Virginia this afternoon to eat at Doumar’s BBQ. It’s a classic joint {hamburgers, hot dogs, fries, coke float, limeade and ice cream were consumed by our family}. We chose to eat in rather then go with car hop service. We all needed to stretch our legs. Mr. Doumar invented the waffle...  This year, Mother’s Day was VERY different. I MISSED seeing my mom!!! We spent the day with our little family and enjoyed the Sunday. I woke up to a HUGE pot of flowers, Peppermints, Rolo’s, cards from each of the kids and a hand-made bracelet from Peyton. Carl’s Elder’s Quorum meeting was cancelled since it’s...  We wanted to do something FUN with the kids that we haven’t done in awhile. We thought what better than lunch & bowling! The kids LOVE to do both of those. Peyton earned a free kid’s meal from Golden Corral for his grade and I promised we would use it before the end of the...  The kids slept in a bit longer then I thought they would … just after 7 AM. They enjoyed unwrapping their many gifts … Alanna: scrapbook, stickers, purse, sunglasses, necklace, watch, bracelet, pj’s, sock monkey, several books, cosmetics, just dance 3, card w/ money, magnetic makeup board and more. Peyton: rest of the Wimpy Diary...  We enjoyed starting the day out video chatting with the Slack side of the family. Tye & Tom were so thoughtful and set it up so that we could watch and chat! Grandma was able to watch the kids open their gifts. Since we are so far away from family, we thought it would be...  Today we took the kids to Red Robin for lunch and then to see Arthur Christmas. The food was delicious and the movie was perfect for the holiday season. The kids had a lot of fun and made for a GREAT day  Our ward Christmas party this year was a good one! The kids role played Joseph & Mary’s journey and the Savior’s birth in the stable. Afterwards, Santa arrived and the kids each got a turn sitting on his lap. It was also really nice getting to know more members in the ward.  It was neat to have Carl’s work party be planned around the family. This was a first for our family and boy did they go ALL out! The kids were able to tell Santa what they wanted … at least Alanna and Peyton. Preston had been sleeping and was NOT at all excited to see...  The kids woke up just wanting to chill around the house. Carl & I talked them into eating out for a birthday lunch. Peyton wanted Sonic … until dad mentioned he knew a really tasty place to eat that they hadn’t tried yet. (One of our favorite family things to do is try new restaurants)...  This weekend was amazing with the family. We drove up to Brianhead, stopping in St. George to buy Peyton a 90. The kids rode quads at Strawberry on Saturday. Sunday the girls did their online study and test to get their OHV permits, I had a two hour deep tissue massage, the kids spend forever...  Tonight, Kasey had her end of the school year orchestra concert. She has become quit the violinist, so much so that her teacher recommended her for advanced orchestra next year, which means she would skip intermediate. This school year she has grown and blossomed so much, advanced from primary to young womens and met her...  The day started with yummy heart pancakes for breakfast. While the kids were at school Kasey’s YW leaders heart attached the front door and left her a treat … I decorated bathroom mirrors with hearts, flowers and special messages. The kids were surprised after school with gifts and giggled with excited. We decorated the dinner...  Kids first time eating Steak N Shake. We took them for “take out” shake n fries for Family Home Evening. They loved it … not sure what I was thinking when I didn’t get Preston a shake. It was probably because he was asleep in the stroller, but when he woke up; I lost my...  Wow … today was a bit of a roller coaster day, but ended on a positive note! I think Carl has been waiting for Yogi Bear to come out at least as much as the kids have. So the kids and I waited for Carl to be back in town to go see it. If...  We took the kids to see a movie … for the life of me, I can’t remember which one (that’s what I get for waiting months to catch up on blogging). The kids enjoyed every minute as much as Carl did. Preston was a gem and sat through the whole thing (as he usually does)...  It is so fun to get together with family ~ the kids absolutely love it … alright the sisters do too! |
